On April 20, 1996, Christina Nigg, made history when she was the first first Swiss female in the history of the Swiss Boxing Federation to step into the ring. Christina fought for acknowledgment in a men-dominant field, as well as distribution of a boxers license for women as amateur with the Swiss boxing federation. | 1997 changed the most successful Swiss female boxer to the professional camp. It beat a breach in the jungle of the prejudices once more! Professional boxing was (see press archive) simply forbidden namely on the part of the Swiss boxing federation. With an American professional license of the Athletic State Commission of Nevada, Nigg won as the first Swiss the world champion title in the super featherweight class. | ![]() |
Finally in 1999 also in Switzerland, professional boxing licenses were given to women. As well to Christina Nigg. With which she fought for finally for the conclusion of her powerful career a title again. Also she became her well-deserved acknowledgment of the boxing functionaries from the SBF.
In January 2000 the resignation followed: Christina Nigg pushed the popularity of boxing with many media appearances of that sport extremely. This considered, intelligent and sharply formulated interviews in all large magazines, radio and television. Boxing came that way to a wide public as it wasn’t for a long time admit in the extremely positive sense.
| Today Christina Nigg works as a chief in a fitness studio and in the management. Together with her long time training-colleague Haki Ajdarevic (www.haki.ch) she’s leading an exclusively and on professional level fitness-boxing programs. Additionally both commit themselves at schools, training further in child projects with box lessons. | ![]() |
