(AUG 21) Boxing is known for its unpredictability and thrilling action, but some matches take that excitement to an entirely new level. WBAN has listed this last week of a sampling of some of the craziest Matchmaking in boxing that took place worldwide.
On August 15 at the ProBox TV Events Center in Plant City, Noah Timoteo made his professional debut, securing a KO in just the first round against Alexander Taylor, who entered the ring with a record of 48 losses, 21 wins and 2 draws.
At Hotel Don Juan in Aguilas, another crazy matching bout that took place was in women’s boxing. Mary Romero faced off against Klaudia Ferenczi, a boxer whose record showed an 123 losses. Romero, 11-9 won by unanimous decision in an eight-round bout. WBAN has continued to call out ridiculous Journeyman /Journeywomen bouts that are made to pad one’s boxing record. August 16, at Neath Sports Centre, Dylan Hayward marked his pro debut with a points victory over Krislaps Zulgis, who had a boxing record of 10-60-3.
Meanwhile, the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham hosted what many crazy matchups of the week. Brad Coley, undefeated with a record of 6-0-0, took on Stephen Johnson, who had a staggering 1-61-1 record. In a six-round bout,
In a similar bout on the card, Lee Gormley, 5-1-0, fought against Ricky Leach, whose record was 3-80-1. Gormley stopped Leach by TKO in the fifth round during a scheduled six-round bout, further exemplifying the disparities present in certain matchups.
Also on this card, Remi Boxill, making his pro debut, defeated Connor Meanwell, with a record of 2-28-1. Boxill won the four-rounder. Another questionable journeyman bout on the books.
The past week in boxing we did have some very good matchups, but as usual the sport is plagued with some of these types of matchmaking that can only make one scratch their head in bewilderment.
