5′ 7½″ super bantamweight Shurretta Metcalf from Dallas, Texas, a mother of two young “kings”, began boxing at the age of 28 years old. Metcalf got into contact sports to do it for extra money in the underground boxing scene, and she found that she was naturally good at it. [Top photo sent in by Shurretta Metcalf/pr photo].
Metcalf said, “That’s when I began to fall in love with the sport.”
As an amateur boxer she had placed 3rd in the 2015 national tournament which brought her to being ranked #5 in the country.
“Achieving this made me want to learn and work harder for my dream,” added Metcalf.
Metcalf said, “having a son with Autism gave me the drive to never give up because he didn’t and he is striving higher then ever. Raising him has made me an even stronger woman and more patient with others.”
Now as a high-ranking professional boxer and ABO regional title holder, she feels that she is ready to go after major titles in the super bantamweight division and become undisputed.
