(FEB 20) It has been reported in news sources that Russian amateur boxing champion Elena Sabítova, 28 years old, passed away on Tuesdayafter lying in a coma for three days.
There were no details as to why Sabitova was in a coma. She was married to world kick-boxing champion Anatoli Nósirev with whom she had a daughter, the couple’s only child, last year.
In December of 2001, at the Women’s World Boxing Championships, in Scranton, Pa, in the 100 lbs category Sabitova had won in the finals by decision over Maria Norozenik. She also fought in other amateur boxing tournaments up to about 2005. (If anyone has any more details or photos of Elena Sabitova.
