Virginia “Ginny” Fuchs, born on March 9, 1988, in Houston, Texas. WBAN first learned about Fuchs when Sue TL Fox covered the history-first 2012 Olympic Trials that took place in Spokane, Washington.
Ginny became interested in many sports at a young age, with soccer, softball, basketball and more. In a quick summary, when she did get into women’s boxing as an amateur boxer, she represented the USA in the 2020 Summer Olympics, she won a bronze medal at the 2018 World Championships, a silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games. Before this time she also had won on the state level winning three Louisiana State Golden Gloves, and also won in 2015 with a national Golden Gloves tournament.
Ginny first exposure to boxing was when she was a sophomore in college, and she did it to stay in shape. She trained for about a year before taking her first amateur bout.
Since then, she has dedicated herself to the sport, training rigorously and competing at various levels. Despite facing challenges and setbacks along the way, Ginny’s determination and passion have propelled her to achieve remarkable success in the ring.
Ginny turned pro on April 9, 2022, April 9, 2022, at the Hangar, in Costa Mesa, California, Fuchs, 109 3/4, won by a four-round KO over Randee Lynn Morales, 110.5. The bout was scheduled for six rounds. Fuchs was making her pro debut.
On October 15, 2022, at the 02 Arena, in Greenwich, Fuchs won by a six-round points decision over Gemma Ruegg.
The following year, Fuchs on June 17, 2023, at the Smoothie King Center, New Orleans, Louisiana, Fuchs won an eight-round unanimous decision over Indeya Smith.
On August 31, 2024, at the Dignity Health Sports Park , Carson, California, Fuchs, 114 1/4, of Houston, Texas, won a ten-round split decision over Adelaida Ruiz, 113 1/2, of Los Angeles, California. The two were fighting for the WBC Interim World Super Flyweight title. Final judges scores were 93-97, 97-93, and 100-90.
On September 1, 2024, Fuchs was named WBAN’s 2024 September Fighter of the Month.
