5′ 7″ Lightweight “DynOmite” Donatella Hultin, born on September 11, 1988, in Stockholm, Sweden, is now fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada.
When Hultin was only in the fourth grade, she saw a guy doing some shadow boxing in a school park. Hultin said, “I guess that was one of the things that inspired me to become a boxer. My mother wanted me to take ballet lessons, but I did not like ballet. My mother finally stopped taking me because I was crying a lot and I was so unhappy.”
When Hultin was eight years old, her father put her in karate. That was a sport that she enjoyed. She also played a lot of soccer, and skateboarding.
” I could do a lot of flips and tricks on my skateboard, and I had no fear, I would jump and flip high in the air landing on my skateboard”, added Hultin.
Hultin’s family is in Sweden. Her father was a wrestler at one time, and is now a personal trainer. Her mother is an Architectural Engineer, and her grandfather is a well-known artist in Sweden, and he has his own art gallery in Sweden Rudolf Overå – Atelje Busen.
The first time that Hultin stepped into a boxing gym, was when she was only 12-13 years old. Hultin said, “the gym was in a bad part of town so I had one of my friends go with me. The gym was not really for female boxers. The trainer was very tough on me and hit me in the face when I dropped my guard—-after that I was afraid of him. I really had no role models in the gym as many of the boxers were much older than me and tried to discourage me.”

When Hultin was 16 years old, her parents moved to a different area, and she started going to another gym to box again. Her new trainer, Armand Krajnc (29-3 (21KO), was a former World Champion, and he taught her the boxing basics very well. “He told me I have a lot of potential and wanted to teach me how to box the right way”, said Hultin.

Hultin told WBAN, “I really do not like studying too much. Maybe after I get boxing out of my system, I will go to college—but now all I have in my mind is to become a World Champion. I train and live in Las Vegas, Nevada, my manager Butch Gottlieb took me to trainer and former World light Heavyweight Champion Eddie Mustafa Muhammad. Eddie said I have a lot of potential and he has been training me since December 2008. He does not treat me like a girl, he makes me tow the line like his male fighters.”

Hutlin said, “When I first came to the U.S.A. I lived in Santa Monica, California. I trained with Marcus Koval and Wendy Rodriquez for a while, they taught me a lot. I also trained with Garth Redwood and learned a lot from him but most of all I love training with Eddie Mustafa. Eddie has taken what I had learned and added so much more. “

On May 9, 2009, at the Hark Rock Casino and Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, Hutlin, 130, won by a fourth round TKO over Jasica Rojo, 131. [Photo gallery #502 ]. Hultin dropped Jasica Rojo in the fourth round with a hard right hand. Hultin won the first two rounds on the score cards.
Hutlin said, ” I was so nervous until my feet hit the canvas, then I felt confident. I fought a pretty tough girl named Jasica Rojo from Tucson, Arizona on the Chad Dawson/ Antonio Tarver undercard at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jasica was a two-time Arizona Golden Gloves Champion.”
“My favorite male boxer is Floyd Mayweather, my favorite female boxers are Christy Martin, Chevelle Hallback, Melissa Hernandez, Belinda Laracuente, and I could go on and on as there are so many great female boxers, they are all my inspiration. I hope I can make a difference in female boxing for my country, Sweden, ” added Hultin.
