Maria Moroni, the first Italian female boxer to have won a European title, and is currently recognized as the E.B.U. champion. She is now retired from the sport. Moroni lives in Foligno, where she resides with her parents and older sister.

In her second pro bout, on November 21, 2000, at the Genetti Manor, Dickson City, Pennsylvania, Moroni of Italy won a four round unanimous division over Connie Bechtel of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Bechtel fell to 0-2-2.
On July 21, 2001, in Castel Ritaldo, Italy, The first of two matches on the same night that was history making: Moroni, 58kg, defeated Angela Nagy of Hungary with a TKO in the 4th round. According to news sources this was a mismatch as Nagy did very little in the ring.
On September 28, 2001 in Terni, Italy, Moroni, Italy, won a 4-round unanimous decision against Mariana Hudak of Hungary. Moroni improved her record to 3-0-1 (1 KO), and Hudak dropped to is 2-3. This was a featherweight division.
On February 11, 2002, in Spoleto, Italy, Moroni TKO2 Angela Nagy.
On August 2, 2002, in Spoleto, Italy, Moroni won a 10-round unanimous decision over French Nadia Debras for the EBU (European Continental Title) in the lightweight division. According to Denis of pugilatofemminile this was the first European match held in Italy. Denis told WBAN, “in Italy, professional female boxers must wear headgear.”
On March 7, 2003, in Foligno, Italy, Bulgarian Galina Koleva Ivanova had a 10-round draw with Moroni, who was defending her GBU European Featherweight Title. WBAN received notice that Moroni had been ill, and did not fight up to par. Moroni said that she wants a rematch in the near future.
On Aug 23, 2003, in Terni, Italy, Galina Koleva Ivanova won a 10-round unanimous decision and became the new EBU European champion in the (57kg) over Moroni who was defending her title.
